Baby Kate 6 weeks old!

Today Kate is 6 weeks old. Late last week, she gave me her first delibrate smile. Love it!!!

Last night she was super fussy and today, she is sleeping like an angel. It might be an all night long party again. The books say 6-8 weeks are the fussy times for babies and I think the experts are right. However, we cannot complain too much having survived colic with Mya.

Kate continues to enrich our lives as does Mya. Mya has been a great big sister thus far.

One thing we are starting to notice is when Mya does something she knows she isn't supposed to do she automatically puts herself in time out. It is pretty funny. We don't even have to do the disciplining anymore :)

Let's see...what else has been happening. We'll Kate is definitely a talker. She makes lots of noises, coos, and has a variety of cries to communicate. I will have to get it on video. Don't know if I mentioned it, but she is also a grunter. Apparently, there is a such thing as "Grunting Baby Syndrome." Check it out on You Tube. She grunts in her sleep. This offers us a challenge, because it wakes us up and it wakes Kate up at times. She is one tough little girl.

Brian has been working hard on his garden. You will have to ask him about the details. I love looking out the window and seeing Brian and his side kick Mya planting all sorts of things. They are very cute together. Good bonding time.

Oh yeah, the other day I asked Mya to clean her room. A few minutes later she told me it was clean. I went up there and sure enough it was...until I opened the closet door. Much to my surprise she threw all her toys into her closet. I couldn't help but laugh at her cleverness.

Gotta run, Kate is up.

These past couple of weeks have been blissful. Mya has settled into big sisterhood and seems to be very proud to show off her little sister to everyone she meets. So far baby Kate has come to watch her at ballet class, has made visits to her school including a big sister celebration party, and has gone on park outings. The other day at the park Mya took over the stroller pushing duties and was excited to show off her sister to the little kiddos at the park. She even stopped playing often to check on Kate as she was sound asleep in the stroller.

Mya is also very mindful of the baby at home. There have been no hitting incidents since the first week. One day Mya came home from school as I was nursing Kate and gently hit her. Mya then said "I'll go to time out now." It was surprising but somewhat cute at the same time.

I also am starting to feel more confident caring for two at the same time. Here are some pictures of Easter activities and car painting. I find that if we have activities planned, the day is smoother.

Kate has been a delight until yesterday. Yesterday was her first fussy day and it brought back flashbacks of colic, but luckily it was short-lived. Now, she's been asleep over three hours again. Hopefully tonight will bring some sleep for all.
