Check marks for good behavior and other news

Brian's Dad with Kate

Good news...Kate is now sleeping 6 hours straight! She is starting to settle down a little more in general so I think the worst of the fussy days are behind us. She is adjusting to a schedule and does not appear to be so gassy. Her gas is out of this world. She and Walter the farting dog could be best buds :)

The other day Mya and I were chatting and coming up with a new behavior chart. If she gets a certain amount of check marks then she gets to pick out a fun activity or toy each week. Her duties include: cleaning up her toys, sleeping in til 6am (She's been waking up at 5 or5:30 everyday lately), getting dressed, helping take care of baby Kate, taking naps and being a good listener. She seemed to think these were reasonable. Then she asked me what I needed to do to earn check marks. This is the list Mya created: "Mommy gets check marks when... she hugs Mya, takes good care of Kate, plays with Mya, helps Mya clean toys, and kisses Mya when she is sad."

I also thought the list was within reason and so darn cute!

We celebrated Daddy day at Brian's parents' house. He got a singing card from Mya and a new pair of hiking boots along with breakfast in bed and a day to do whatever he wanted. He chose to spend the day in his garden.

This morning Mya asked if everyday could be Father's day. That made Brian's morning.

Trike-A-Thon, Family visit and dentist

Mya enjoyed her very first charity event, a trike-a-thon, which raised money for a good cause. In fact, Mya raised the most money in her class!

Baby Kate is still fussy, only sleeping up to 4.5 hours in a stretch at night. All of us are exhausted except Mya. Hopefully this will change as she gets bigger. She is now weighing in at over 10lbs!

This week Mya got to go the dentist for a cleaning. She did great! I don't know many three year olds who love to floss.

A couple days ago we had a good visit with my Aunt Mary and family. They got to meet Kate for the first time. Mya also enjoyed a mini shopping spree with big cousin Kayla.

Prima Ballerina

The last couple of weeks have been very busy. Mya had her first dance recital. She seemed to enjoy most of it especially the jumping. Maybe we should give gymnastics a try.

Baby Kate is going through a fussy period so it has been difficult to get sleep or spend much needed special time with Mya. I am hoping for a little girl time one on one this weekend.

Kate is 8 weeks old! Can't believe it. I also go back to work next week : (

At five weeks Kate gave me her first intentional smile. She is smiling and cooing constantly and is a joy when she is not trying to burp or poop. At seven weeks she rolled from stomach to back in a fit of rage. We produce super strong babies.

Mya gets tubes tomorrow for the second time. We hope this will relieve her of constant ear infections. She is actually excited to go to the hospital to get them done.
